SOUL ASYLUM are the cutting edge of rock today, their Grave Dancers Union opus may be a little restrained by previous standards, but live their burnin' on all engines. Just to compound matters, the mat of hair that is made man Dave Pirner, appears to be be well out of it. His howlin' intro crashes into an uproarious giggle. Twice. When he gets it right Soul Asylum are startingly intense, or at least they would have been if afforded the whole PA.
Dave sarcastically introduces runaway train has their "November Rain," and then before "Without a Trace" announces:
"I hope you all like it but frankly I don't give a fuck."

Obviously the high points of Union are starred; "Back Gold" and "Somebody to Shove" fit snugly into the structure of a set that ended with a storming "99%."
If this game is all about attitude Soul Asylum are holding all the aces.
