A fusion of styles that complements the collective pedigree of those involved, Coverdale/Page is a record that sets a precedent from the ZEPPELIN-tinged snake, rattle n' roll of "Shake My Tree" to the 'codesc' cry of "Whisper a Prayer for the Dying," a collection of songs that demonstrate a 'quality street' neither party has trodden since their respective heydays.
Although originally branded by many as a poor man's Led Zeppelin, COVERDALE/PAGE sweeps its own path, albeit with a slight inflection for the latter on tracks such as "Over Now," "Easy Does It," "Don't Leave Me This Way," and "Absolution Blues."
"Waiting on You," though, manages to capture the collective chemistry of both parties.
The ole' 'heres a song for ya,' Coverdale cock rock of "Pride & Joy" and extra ditty "Feeling Hot" balance proceedings, whilst the ballads, "Take Me for a Little While" and "Take a Look at Yourself," have delicious centres, with the former being the most delectable in this box of remastered tricks. Coverdale/Page is an album worth its weight in gold.
