GOAT have been making waves recently, and their first studio album is an interesting collision of psychedelic metal mixed with funky rhythms and wild guitar wanderings. With a name like theirs it's initially hard to know what to expect, however they succeed in making a jagged, brutal noise with an element of melody thrown in to good effect.
Side one opens with "Sexman" an aggressive chant with plenty of warped notes to boost up the listener's interest, while "Everybody Wants To Be" there has a great chorus and some very hooky guitar lines. "Lying in Flowers" is a lazy swirl of melody and mood, and "I Want You Back" follows the course with a dirty but mellow feel.
The band do have their dull moments with some predictably styled standards but overall Goat creates a weird mix helped greatly by the unique playing of masterful guitar man Adrian Oxall.
