Live Review: Red Dogs, Buckley Tivoli, 1992

Much has been made by the press of the fact that the RED DOGS' sound is similar to that of tonight's headliners THE QUIREBOYS. What better way to sort them out than throw them on the same stage? Having come off the UFO Euro trek, the Dogs are obviously tight, though the sound mix in the 'Tivs' is anything but.

With a new album due soon, it's a case of throwing both old and new into the melting pot. Although Wrong Side of Town is heavily represented, choice cuts come in the form of "Working Late," "Baby So Fine," and "I Shall be Released." Mickey Ripley giving his all for the cover of BOB DYLAN's classic "Heartbreaker."

Tonight the Dogs proved they were nobody's clones. They more than entertained a subdued partisan audience, and my view is that most will be back the next time they play. Do yourself a favour. Join them!
