Revenge Recommends: "Back With a Bang" by Skrewdriver

Skinhead Oi band Skrewdriver were mixed up with some pretty controversial street politics and "bad optics" in the 70s and 80s. "Back With a Bang" was their 1982 response to what they saw as "mischaracterisation" of skinheads by the media.

Instead of writing songs about it, maybe they should have listened to some of the criticism, and avoided the Nazi imagery they became associated with. But they were working class kids from the 1960s and 1970s -- that wasn't going to happen! Anyway, all that misunderstood and misunderstanding energy made a classic Oi song.

  1. Ah yeah, the Skrewdriver single right before they admitted to being full blown WNs. By "Back with a Bang" in 1982, only the most daft scene outsider had any confusion what side of the fence Ian and the boys were on.
