Revenge Recommends: "Baba O'Riley" by The Who

One of the essential components of great rock is lairyness: Definition: "British slang: Displaying an aggressive attitude in order to provoke a fight, argument or any verbal or physical confrontation."

This is something The Who had in spades, although it was mainly musical arguments they were interested in starting often amongst themselves – in order to ramp up the energy level of their songs. Many of these, like Won't be Fooled Again and Baba O'Riley, are distinguished by that aggressive working class attitude, barely sublimated from a brawl into a brilliant rock song.

Lyrics:

Out here in the fields
I fight for my meals
I get my back into my living
I don't need to fight
To prove I'm right
I don't need to be forgiven

Don't cry
Don't raise your eye
It's only teenage wasteland

Sally, take my hand
Travel south crossland
Put out the fire
Don't look past my shoulder
The exodus is here
The happy ones are near
Let's get together
Before we get much older

Teenage wasteland
It's only teenage wasteland
Teenage wasteland
Oh, oh
Teenage wasteland
They're all wasted!
