Album Review: FM, "Aphrodisiac"

With the release of Aphrodisiac, the addition of Andy Barnett's crunching guitar has proved its worth. Barnett's guitar complemented by the rhythm section of Merv Goldsworthy (bass) and Pete Jupp (drums) prove the ideal foundation on which to layer one of the best voices in Rock music, a talent belonging to Steve Overland.

Obviously none of this would mean anything unless they had the tunes on which to focus their energies, Breathe Fire, the immense first single Blood and Gasoline, Hard Day in Hell, and the balladic strains of Closer to Heaven,to name a few, each testify to FM's skill in the writing department.

By producing themselves with the help of Andy Reilly the AOR gloss and sheen is still evident. Aphrodisiac despite its lamentable cover is indisputably for fans of great Rock songs.
