The valley of the River Irvine in central Ayrshire is a minor hotbed of rock talent, having already produced World-beaters Biffy Clyro. This song is by another talented band from "the Valley," Mechanical Smile.
Located loosely within a pop-punk, emo template with a hint of grunge, the sound of Take Me To The Otherside is also distinguished by its good dynamics (starts, stops, gear changes) and fluid, burbling guitar lines.
Addendum: A couple of years later they decided to "retire" Mechanical Smile and reform as "Twin Heart" (yeh, naff name, but they now sound a bit heavier)...
