Album Review, Lita Ford, "Dangerous Curves"

After an absence of almost two years raunchy Rock Goddess LITA FORD returns with this, her third solo album since departing the ranks of girlie supergroup THE RUNAWAYS.

Unlike Stiletto, her latest offering Dangerous Curves is a commercial stab at the heart of Chart Rock with Tom Werman (MOTLEY CRUE, POISON) rooted firmly in the production hot seat. With anthemic gems such as Shot Of Poison, Playin' With Fire, Little Too Early, and the balladic Bad Love, Lita's serving up Top 40 Hard Rock at its very best.

On the heavier side rockers such as Larger Than Life, What Do Ya Know About Love, Hellbound Train, etc. bump and grind to Lita's panting backbeat. Then on the flip side the deadly sting of Black Widow contrasts nicely with the ZEPPELINesque Tambourine Dream, while Holy Man kicks into gear with its anthemic chorus, a la BON JOVI.

For the fact-o-freaks amongst you, the album features Myron Grombacher (PAT BENATAR) on drums, Joe Taylor on guitar, David Ezrin on keyboards, and Matt Bissonette (DLR) on bass; who all contribute to both the writing and playing. There are also guest appearances from PURPLE’s Joe Lynn Turner, EYES' Jeff Scott Soto, and HEART's Howard Leese amongst others.

On initial spins Curves should put Lita back in the public eye, but doesn't quite repeat the glory of her multi-platinum debut solo effort. Still she's a woman with a helluva lot of balls and determination! She’s one of a kind.

Riff Raff was a legendary rock magazine based in London in the late 1980s and 1990s. Edited by the ultimate music biz insider, Mark Crampton, and employing such talents as Mark Blake, Jerry Ewing, Mike Harris, Paul Smith, Chris Collingwood, Alan McCrorie, Simon Robinson, Lyn Guy, Anna Marx, Nick Douglas, Marion Garden, Peter "Grunty" Grant, Joe "The Crow" Mackett, Billy "The Kluck" Kulke, and, lastest and mostest, the incredible Liddell Brothers, Mark (a.k.a. "El Perro") and Colin (a.k.a. "Der Fly"). Unfortunately, Riff Raff was just too R n' R for its own good. A genuine working class rock mag, written, edited, and translated into 16 European languages in a drug-N-Jack-D-fuelled haze, often on the back of motorbikes, with spell checking by our staff of attentive rock bimbos (chosen purely for their blondeness and big knockers), it soon fell behind more trainspotterly, nerdish, and politically correct publications like Q, Kerrang, Mojo, Metal Hammer, and Horse & Hound. This website is an archive and kind of shrine dedicated to the writing of its greatest writers, some of whom, luckily for the Rock Kosmos, still continue to write about music.
