Video Review: AC/DC, "Clipped"

Ah...and now for a little pre-Donington taster. It's the loudest rock n' roll band on the planet (Heavy Metal!? My dog's ass!). Yup, those perennial favourites AC/DC have put out a five track video entitled Clipped.

It's a simple format, with three of the songs taken from their recent platter, The Razor's Edge, and all the vids are filmed, not unusually enough, in front of a live audience.

If you’re looking for any zany band capers and fly-on-the-wall babblings, forget it. This is, to reiterate, a straight-forward, no-frills affair.

AC/DC blast off with Thunderstruck and it’s somehow reassuring how some things never change, like the shredded vocals of Brian Johnson. The guy's obviously on a diet of razor blades and gravel. Whilst guitarist Angus Young cavorts around the stage, like the demented, over-age schoolboy he always was.

Next up is Money Talks, which frankly lacks the usual AC/DC trademarks of simple yet irresistible riffs and gobsmacking choruses. Still, try telling that to the crowd. Are You Ready sees the band on full throttle. Lusty stuff. The unrelenting riffing of Heatseeker promptly follows.

Hey, let's go out with a blast! The cannon roars and brings down the finale, That's The Way I Wanna Rock N' Roll, a song which quite simply sums up what AC/DC are all about, and, hell, you don't need me to tell you what that is. Press play...
