Live Review: Thunder, Don Valley Stadium, 6th June, 1993

If you like, THUNDER are a bit of a throwback, a classic-sounding White British rock band steeped in the time-worn tradition of Black R n' B roots, i.e. FREE and THE FACES.

These "Sarf" London lads don't spring any surprises; whether it be a AC/DC's "Thunder-struck," which heralded their arrival, right through to chunky, melodic hard rock anthems like "She's So Fine," and the poignant "Low Life"...

But they pulled it off with much aplomb and panache. Whilst "Backstreet Symphony," the Arabesque, piano-backed "Like a Satellite," and the current single "Does It Feel Like Love" added the icing to their performance.

So, perhaps they play it a little safe, but for me, and I suspect a large proportion of the crowd, Thunder were the top dogs on the day.
